TIPS AND THE VERALAB PRODUCTS FOR REMEDYING SKIN DRYNESS
Let’s start with a puzzle.
Find the differences:
There aren’t many, are there?
The picture on the left shows desert land, and on the right we have dry skin!
The reason for this similarity is the same in both cases: a lack of moisture.
Let’s take a closer look.
CHARACTERISTICS OF DRY SKIN
APPEARANCE
The first sign that shows you have dry skin is that it feels tight, especially after washing your face.
The other symptoms are:
- • Thin, frail skin that has lost its elasticity
- • Dull, pale complexion
- • The skin feels rough and dry and has an uneven texture
- • Dehydrated, flaky surface
- • Signs of premature ageing (wrinkles at a young age)
CLASSIFICATION
There are 2 types of dry skin:
Dehydrated dry skin: insufficient water.
In this case, the skin lacks the barrier function that protects it from external agents and irritants.
Alipidic dry skin: inadequate sebum production.
Insufficient lipids make the skin more sensitive and more prone to wrinkles.
CAUSES
As we were saying, the cause is skin dehydration, which can be affected by various factors.
As always, the most important factor is the genetic component, but there are also some external agents that can make a contribution:
- • Climatic factors (very dry environment, prolonged exposure to UV rays, cold, air conditioning, excessive heating, wind).
- • Constitutional factors (genetic predisposition and age -> with age, collagen production dwindles and the skin tends to become thinner and drier).
- • Dietary factors (water and vitamin deficiency).
- • Health-related factors (presence of skin conditions).
- • Aggressive, expired or alcohol-containing cosmetics.
WHAT TO DO
In this case, the aim of the beauty routine is to reduce water evaporation, or rather, to retain a sufficient amount of water in the epidermis, so as to repair the damaged skin barrier.
In other words: moisturise!
Dry skin also has an impoverished hydrolipidic film, making it more exposed and therefore more sensitive.
It is necessary to take great care when choosing the products to be used in your beauty routine,
which must be adjusted from time to time to suit the climate and season.
DRY SKIN: RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS AND BEAUTY ROUTINE
Generally speaking:
- • Avoid products that might irritate or further dry your skin.
- • Use mild, nourishing cleansing products.
- • Opt for creams with a rich, dense texture.
STEP 1: CLEANSING
Cleansing is a crucial step for dry skin, because contact with water might make it even drier and weaker.
For everyone: OLIO DENSO which cleanses without altering your hydrolipidic film and counteracts dryness. During periods when your skin is not too dry, you can switch to double cleansing using a small amount of SPUMONE.
Very dry skin: MORE SOFT, a specific, tested, hypoallergenic formula containing active ingredients able to repair the hydrolipidic layer and strengthen the protective barrier.
STEP 2: SERUM
Serums are crucial because the active ingredients they contain penetrate more effectively and therefore deliver greater hydration!
Dry skin: MAGIC OIL is Veralab’s elasticising and hydrating serum that does not leave residues and penetrates deep into the skin.
It is also perfect as a make-up primer if your skin feels tight!
If you are not a fan of oily textures: SIERO #HYDRA has a lightweight hydrating formula for a more radiant, smoother skin.
For very sensitive skins: SIERO #DEFENCE, soothes and decongests, helping to rebalance reactive, redness-prone skin.
You can add a few drops of serum to your moisturiser, to protect your skin from atmospheric agents and avoid redness and flaking.
STEP 3: CREAM
The main purpose of cream is to maintain a good level of skin hydration, so don’t forget it!!
It is a veritable panacea for dry skin because it nourishes the skin leaving it elastic and supple, prevents wrinkles and creates a film that seals in moisture and the active ingredients it contains.
When cold and wind are on their way, introduce a cream containing more film-forming ingredients to ensure adequate protection.
Here are the Veralab creams we have picked out for you:
Dry skin: ZERO TIME is conceived precisely for skin that needs to be well moisturised and protected and, in addition, it has an exceptional anti-age effect.
Very dry skin bearing the signs of ageing: ZERO RUGHE is very rich and nourishing, with a ‘glow’ effect that reflects light and evens out imperfections.
DRY SKIN: EXTRA MEASURES
Nourish your skin with RELAXING OIL MASK that, thanks to its oily formula, lends instant well-being and a soft, radiant plumping effect.
PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION to the lips and eye contour area, which are often the driest areas of the face.
Lips: use PULP, the highly strategic oil-gel lip mask that acts by filling both deep and superficial wrinkles, to leave your lips soft and firm, just begging to be kissed!
Ryan approves.
Eye contour area: never forget it and don’t make the mistake of using a face cream!
The solution is GO LIFT with a proven anti-age, plumping and elasticising action, with the aid of the extra hydration provided by our BRIGHTENING EYE MASK containing hyaluronic acid and glycerine, with their potent moisturising and elasticising action.
And then:
- - Use lukewarm rather than very hot water when removing make-up and rinsing your face.
- - Drink plenty of water, which doesn’t aid weight loss but is still good for you.
Big hugs!
