5.5 things your beautician never told you but it’s time you knew

1. Cellulite is not your fault
If you do not exercise, you eat chocolate or you pick at snacks when out for a drink, remember: cellulite is a genetic characteristic and you inherited it in the same way as the colour of your eyes.
This doesn’t means that the situation can’t improve if you take care of it.
2. Drinking 2 litres of water a day does not help with weight loss or get rid of cellulite
Before the mineral water multinationals are up in arms, I have to say that WATER IS GOOD FOR YOU (for the kidneys, for purification, for the urinary tract and for skin) BUT, UNFORTUNATELY, DRINKING WATER DOES NOT GET RID OF CELLULITE OR WATER RETENTION.
In addition, our body is programmed to ask for liquids when it needs them. Do you know what THIRST is for? Precisely that!
In most cases, WATER RETENTION is due to an excessive intake of salt, the use of certain medicines, premenstrual syndrome and poor microcirculation. Very often we use the term “water retention” to refer to what is actually a stagnation of the venous or lymphatic circulation. Although poor microcirculation is associated with cellulite IT CANNOT BE CURED BY DRINKING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF WATER, rather by paying attention to the way we walk and wearing compression stockings or tights.
(you will find our products intended for the treatment of cellulite and water retention here).
3. Pineapple doesn’t facilitate weight loss
Have you ever considered eating pineapple, perhaps at the end of a heavy meal, convinced that it burns fat?
Right. PINEAPPLE DOESN’T HELP WEIGHT LOSS. Treat yourself to an ice cream instead! The only virtue of this fruit is that it is sweet and, like all fruit, contains vitamins.
4. Body hair grows back thicker if you shave
Everyone is free to choose whether or not to remove their body hair, but if, like most people, you prefer not to have too much hair on show, and you don’t have time for a wax, feel free to use a razor or a cream.
If you shave a hair, it won’t be replaced by 7, the exact same hair will reappear, only it will not have its natural tapered shaped, but will be cylindrical and therefore feel more bristly.
When it comes to hair removal, I always advise considering laser treatment! You can now get rid of hair for good at an affordable price. You will find it also at my beauty salon, and by therapists are very skilled as well as friendly.
5. Botox does not cause swelling
I know, this isn’t exactly my area of expertise, but as I often have the chance to talk to sector experts, I feel confident about saying it.
Botulinum is a neurotoxin that acts as a muscle relaxant on muscles in the upper third (eye area and forehead) of the face, flattening expression wrinkles as a result. It does not cause swelling. What seems to cause slight swelling, is hyaluronic acid. This does not mean recommending one or the other, but being more precise.
5.5 There is no such thing as miracle creams
If they did exist I would know, I would have bought them and now I would have the skin of a twenty-year-old.
Instead here I am, writing enlightening posts with my forty-something face and a firmness that is still there but could abandon me any minute.
Right.
I can, however, tell you what is inside creams and give you some tips on how to choose the right cream for you.
For today I’ve done my good deed as a disseminator of information. Let’s hope the angel of metabolism rewards me.
Big hugs,
Cristina
